I develop Popular Education for Sustainability projects in schools and community services for children, youth, adults, and the elderly - both urban and rural residents. This is the beauty of Popular Education: it all begins with the worldview of the people involved. Situated knowledge systems form the foundation for any debate on Sustainability.

The work includes training faculty on environmental issues, planning to adapt subjects and disciplines, preparing course content, developing teaching materials, and leading workshops for practical classes.

Environmental Education

Environmental education goes beyond behaviorism: it must develops awareness. But not an ephemeral awareness trapped in brief experiences. Instead, it must amplifies the meaning of life by the participants. It must developed the awareness about the diversity and the conections of life-forms manifested by Nature. The participants must comprehends that humans have the power of either interrupt or enhance all life-forms manifestation.

Our work has confirmed that environmental education is communal by nature. Only through collective action can we overcome a world that increasingly separates culture from nature. This pseudo-separation is the essence of the problem, this is also leads to the false idea that individualism heads to happiness. Following the natural flow of life, environmental education must restore our ability to transform reality through observing ecological connections, engaging in dialogue and collective organization as well as using playfulness to unlock creative potential.

MEMORY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS SUSTAINABILITY

Stay aware of the changes in the world. Preserve your culture and teach new generations. Learn from technological advancement. Recover food customs, old recipes, tree names, and the right time to grow them. Know when to act and when to settle down. Remembering is essential to move forward: the people's communal memory is the gateway for projecting into the future with wisdom.

Agroecological Education

6.1 Plantando.jpg

Agroecology has a pedagogical vitality.

The agricultures for life bring people together to sow, plant, and harvest. They unifie people, creating community bonds, caring and affection. This is why traditional agriculture, practiced for centuries by indigenous communities, carries deep cultural symbolism.

Harvesting is part of a greater meaning. The food must be peeled, cleaned, seeded, prepared, served, eaten, and celebrated. Agroecological cycles are not simply agronomical, they are also cultural manifestations.

Gaia's vitality is reflected on human bodies and Cultures. This is how Agroecological Education must be engaged, as a natural extension of local ecossystems. When the environment is healthy, so are human bodies.

Hands-on work with the land is fundamental to Popular Education for Sustainability, but we must not overlook that participants often face challenges with literacy and socialization. Agroecological Education must address this social function. As Paulo Freire recognized, words hold great power. Naming the world around us is self awareness. We use agroecological teaching to support literacy by bringing Nature into the classroom and taking the classroom into Nature.
